Responding to the Mass of the 2nd Sunday in Ordinary Time

John proclaims the Lamb of God. Let us pause and ponder the living and loving Lord.

Draw near and take the body of the Lord
And drink the holy blood for you outpoured:
Saved by that body hallowed by that blood,
Whereby refreshed, we render thanks to God.

Salvation’s give, Christ the only Son
By his dear cross and blood the vict’ry won.
Offered was he for greatest and for least,
Himself the victim and himself the priest.

With heav’nly bread makes those who hunger whole,
Gives living waters the thirsty soul.
The judge eternal, unto whom shall bow
All nations at the last, is with us now.
