A change – but for good reason…

Over the past years the pattern of postings on Living Eucharist has been:

  • from Thursday to Sunday,  the principal scriptural elements of the Liturgy of the Word – beginning with the Gospel on the Thursday and ending with the First Reading on Sunday.
  • From Monday to Wednesday a return each day to one of the elements of the Liturgy of the Word, or the Mass as a whole, eg the Collect.

In England over recent years the Wednesday Word initiative has been embraced by many Catholic schools to encourage students, and their families, to reflect on the word together, especially the Sunday Gospel.

It seems helpful to coordinate the sort of prayerful reflection on scripture  and gentle catechesis that this website attempts with the rhythm of Wednesday Word.

So for the future, beginning this Wednesday, the pattern followed by Living Eucharist will be:

  • from Wednesday to Thursday,  the principal scriptural elements of the Liturgy of the Word – beginning with the Gospel on the Wednesday and ending with the First Reading on Saturday.
  • From Sunday to Tuesday, a return each day to one of the elements of the Liturgy of the Word, or the Mass as a whole, eg the Collect.
