Taste and See: Getting it right

Good Shepherd Manchester

The Collect for Sunday, the 10th Sunday of Ordinary Time, reminded us – and how often we need reminding! – that knowing the right thing to do, and doing the right thing are not always the same thing.

O God, from whom all good things come,
grant that we, who call on you in our need,
may at your prompting discern what is right,
and by your guidance do it.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.

The Collect also reminds us that when we realise there is a gap, that we have failed in the good, or that we have a need that alone we cannot meet, there is God for us. His love, his care, his prompting and his guidance are there for us to help.
