Taste and See: Loving, Living.

RemembranceThe Collect at Mass yesterday, 32nd Sunday in Ordinary Time, had a particular poignancy as the Day was also Remembrance Sunday.

Almighty and merciful God,
graciously keep from us all adversity,
so that, unhindered in mind and body alike,
we may pursue in freedom of heart
the things that are yours.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.

Many are those whose lives are massively disrupted by adversity and so who find themselves unable to live as best they might.

And yet…

The Gospel of the Day, with the widow placing her two small coins in the Treasury, reminds that many are able to do great things even in the midst of adversity, even as many, seemingly untroubled, do so much less.

  • What is God’s will for me today?
  • How might I best pursue the things that are God’s and that he longs to share with us?
